Supporting the Social Enterprise Community: Breadwinners x Booni

Breadwinners Community Run

We’re excited to announce a partnership with fellow social enterprise Booni, a company which supports independent brands and social enterprises through its snack subscription boxes. A key part of their social impact is donating their profits on to charities and community projects, especially ones that help educate and provide wellbeing activities for disadvantaged young people.

This month, the profits from Booni are kindly being donated towards running our wellbeing and community activities at Breadwinners, and you’ll also find a flyer all about us in their boxes.

Introducing Booni

Booni provide a snack box subscription box with a difference – every snack you find in your box is from a great brand that might be a social enterprise, or focused on sustainability, or an independent start-up. They also - as above - reinvest their profits in the community by donating them to charities like ours.

So, whilst you enjoy your tasty snacks, you’re doing good too!

After receiving your box, you’ll also receive an impact report, that tells you what causes are being supported by Booni – including Breadwinners.

If you haven’t heard about us before, you can read a quick guide to Breadwinners and what we do on our blog here.

How is Booni helping Breadwinners?

Booni’s profits go directly back into other causes and, this month, these funds are helping us run our community and wellbeing activities, which in the past have included sports, day trips and social events.

This is essential to our mission at Breadwinners, as, even though we focus on employment, our final aim is to improve wellbeing for refugees and young people seeking asylum. A big part of this is through employment training, but building a sense of community, forming social networks and giving our young people time to have fun is essential too.

Most recently, we went on a trip to the Quadrangle Trust, in Kent, where our Breadwinners enjoyed swimming, exploring nature, walking and – for most – their first barbecue ever! It was a huge relief after a long and boring Coronavirus lockdown in London for our Breadwinners.

Supporting wellbeing in the Breadwinners community

With the donation from Booni, we will be able to keep running trips like this for the rest of the year. We’re hoping to run around five events, supporting up to 80 programme members. Lots of our Breadwinners love football, and we can’t wait to get back on the pitch with a range of sports activities. We are also looking forward to running some more social events, like cookery nights, once we are able to safely meet up inside. You can follow us on Instagram at @wearebreadwinners to see what we are up to!

Thanks to Booni, we can provide all these trips completely free to our Breadwinners and Risers, covering travel, food and any expenses from the trip itself. Especially for our Risers, who don’t have the right to take on paid work in the UK, this is essential to allow them to take part in these activities.

So a huge thanks from us at Breadwinners to everyone at Booni!
