Read our Impact Report 2021!

Our Impact Report 2021 is out! It took us a lot of work, especially from our Comms Manager (and Risers Programme Manager) Georgia who has designed it from top to bottom.

In this edition, we tried our best to make it simple, reducing the number of words as much as possible, and to not only show the amazing things we have been up to, but also how much energy goes into improving our programmes and organisation every year.

Our annual peer-led evaluation

For the second time, we have run a “peer-led” evaluation. Participants from our Proofers Programme were tasked with calling all our graduate alumni to find out how they are, how Breadwinners has had a positive impact on them, and most importantly, what things can we do to change and improve our work.

We do this to make sure that we hear the most honest feedback as possible, and reduce the power inequality between the core staff and participants as much as we can. We are not aware of any other organisation doing the same, so if you are doing it, or are interested in this process, please give me a shout!

A massive thank you!

We are very grateful to all programme participants for their energy and enthusiasm to learn and challenge themselves. As you might have heard me say, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing our young people develop so fast.

I also want to extend a massive thank you to all our core team including Trustees and volunteer mentors who have navigated all the changes we have had to make to our programmes and business models. Also, to all our charity partners for introducing us to the young people and supporting them with many things we ourselves can’t do. And lastly, to our bakery partners and funders who are essential for our model to work, and enable us to provide as many people as we can with work!

Help us to grow

The world is mad and looks like it will continue to be so for a while. If you are one of our current donors or thinking of making a donation, we have a fantastic stat for you. For every £1 an individual donor gave us, we have been able to pay £1.45 to a young refugee for their work. Only a social enterprise can do that! That’s because we spend the £1 on buying market equipment, enabling us to sell bread, which in turn enables us to provide paid employment opportunities for our programme participants.

Please consider donating to our Brighton Aviva Crowdfunder, to help us establish our new Brighton project, launched started last September!
