Over the last few months, our Proofers programme has been up and running to support our online bread sales. Like Breadwinners, our Proofers are people with settled refugee status in the UK.

We hire our Proofers as a progression from the Breadwinners programme, and the programme teaches important skills including professional phone call manner, how to operate customer service, and – most essentially – remote working experience. Over lockdown, we also provided any Proofers who needed them with laptops.

Without the Proofers programme, several of our Breadwinners would have struggled to progress into their new roles, which may require remote working now or in the future.

Recent graduates from the Proofers programme told us that this training was a key reason why they were able to apply for and secure jobs during the last two months, with several moving into roles which would they would not have been able to apply to without this specific experience.

Our Proofers also researched our Net Promoter Score (NPS), which is a calculation of how recommendation-worthy Breadwinners is based on a rating of 1-5 of how likely our customers are to recommend Breadwinners to a friend – and found awesome results. Our NPS is as high as 94.7% - when the benchmark for the ecommerce sector is only 48%.  So much love for Breadwinners!
