Breadwinners has been "Highly Commended" on PWC Impact in Social Enterprise Awards 2024

I’m thrilled to share that Breadwinners was recognized as one of the top three social enterprises in the UK at the PwC UK Building Trust Awards 2024! Competing in the Impact in Social Enterprise category, we were "Highly Commended," alongside incredible organizations like Luminary Bakery, with the award going to Leeds-based Seagulls Reuse. This acknowledgment highlights the positive impact Breadwinners is making in the lives of young refugees across the UK.

PwC’s awards celebrate organizations that build trust in society through open, authentic, and impactful work. It was moving to hear the judges praise the stories and data we shared—stories of young people who have faced hardship yet show resilience, determination, and a strong desire to contribute to their communities. Our latest Participatory Action Research report, conducted with Earlybird’s AI voice recognition, played a key role in our submission. Sixteen young refugees reached out to fellow participants and mentors, helping us improve our programs by getting direct feedback on what matters most to them. It’s an approach that fosters connection and builds trust with those we support, empowering them to help shape our future.

In a world where trust between local communities and refugees is fragile and too often exploited, this recognition reminds us how vital it is to lift up voices that are often unheard. Breadwinners exist to provide pathways to employment and build brighter futures for young refugees. We are honoured to stand among a community of social enterprises making a real difference and grateful to PwC, the School for Social Entrepreneurs, and all who continue to support this critical work.

Thanks PWC and everyone who has been part of our journey. We are inspired to keep growing our impact in the years to come!
