No doubt if you order your bread from Breadwinners, you will be a huge fan of good-quality, artisan bread and baked goods. So, we thought it would be great to give you ideas and tips on how to get creative with your bread deliveries from Breadwinners.

My name is Julia and I’m currently volunteering at Breadwinners. I’m providing communications support for the organisation and I’m a massive ‘foodie’. I’ve always been really interested in food and I’m constantly looking for new recipes to try. So for the first Breadwinners’ recipe post, I’m going to share a really simple and tasty way to enjoy your sourdough: Catalan tomato bread.

I first learnt how to make this when I was 12. I had travelled to a family friend’s home on the outskirts of Barcelona with my parents during the summer holidays. One lunchtime after we had all returned from the beach, my parents’ friend served us all this tomato bread. It was packed full of flavour and I asked him to show me how to make it so I could recreate it at home. It’s now 12 years later and I still enjoy making this for myself, friends and family so I feel it’s only right to share it with you!

All you’ll need is:

2 Garlic cloves

4 Tomatoes (Personally I like to use cherry tomatoes)

4 Sourdough Slices

1 Tsp Olive Oil

Salt and pepper

Method:

Start by toasting your sourdough and peel your garlic cloves. Slice the cloves and the tomatoes in half.

Then, rub the cloves all over one side of the sourdough and do the same with the tomatoes. It’s up to you how much garlic you want to spread on your toast. I like a bit of a kick so I spread quite a lot on my bread!

Lastly, drizzle the olive oil evenly over the bread and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

And that’s it! Why not give it a go?
